YardMind Technologies LLC ("we," "us," or "our") operates the YardMind mobile application and website (collectively, "the App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use YardMind.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly:

Name and email address when creating an account
Password (stored securely via Supabase Auth)
Plant photos and garden information you upload
Location (GPS coordinates or manually entered city/zip) for weather-based care scheduling

Information collected automatically:

Device information and usage data
IP address
App usage patterns via Firebase Analytics
Location data when you grant GPS permission

Information from third parties:

If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile information from Google

3. How We Use Your Information

To provide and improve the App's features and services
To deliver personalized weather-aware garden care schedules
To process AI plant identification and health analysis
To send push notifications about your garden tasks
To respond to your support inquiries
To identify usage trends and improve user experience
To comply with legal obligations

4. AI Processing

YardMind uses Anthropic Claude AI to analyze plant photos and generate care recommendations. Photos you submit for analysis are processed by Anthropic's API. Please review Anthropic's Privacy Policy for information on how they handle data.

5. Location Data

We collect your location (GPS coordinates or city/zip code) to provide accurate weather data and hardiness zone information for your garden. Location data is stored in your user profile and cached on your device. We do not share your location with third parties except as required to provide weather services via OpenWeatherMap.

6. Google API Services

YardMind uses Google APIs for authentication and geocoding. Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

Service providers: Supabase (database and authentication), Anthropic (AI analysis), OpenWeatherMap (weather data), Firebase (push notifications and analytics), Google (authentication)
Legal requirements: If required by law or to protect our rights

8. Data Security

We implement appropriate security measures to protect your personal information, including:

Row-level security (RLS) in our database — each user can only access their own data
Encrypted connections (HTTPS) for all data transmission
Secure authentication via Supabase Auth

9. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active. Weather log data is automatically purged after 30 days. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at hello@yardmind.net.

10. Children's Privacy

YardMind is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.

11. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your state of residence, you may have the following rights:

Right to know what personal information we collect
Right to request deletion of your personal information
Right to correct inaccurate personal information
Right to opt out of sale of personal information (we do not sell your data)

YardMind uses cookies and similar technologies to maintain your authentication session and improve app performance. You can control cookie settings through your browser or device settings.

15. Push Notifications

With your permission, we send push notifications about your garden care tasks. You can disable notifications at any time in the App's Settings or your device's notification settings.

16. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email. Your continued use of the App after changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
